Just a few thoughts from a simple girl as I try to plan a wedding amidst the craziness of my life...

About Me

I am 25 year old getting ready for our nuptials on May 01, 2010. I am currently a graduate student majoring in Occupational Therapy. I love to write and I love weddings (well I used to). I thought it would be a great way to blend a few of my loves into a blog. Sit back and enjoy while I attempt to juggle planning a wedding on a budget while doing schoolwork. So let the madness begin!!

Chere Haiti: Keep Haiti in your Prayers

I have to take a break from my wedding blogging just to implore to all of you to please keep Haiti in your prayers. Most of my family still resides in Haiti and it wasn't until today that I found out that my aunt and cousin are alive and safe. Unfortunately, this is not the case for many of my friends who are finding word that their loved ones are still missing or dead. Not to mention the people in Haiti who were simply on vacation, on voluntary/mission work, or etc.
This is a tragedy that could have easily affected any of us and we should not take our lives for granted but appreciate every single moment that we have here on this Earth.

There are numerous ways that you can help those suffering in Haiti:
If you like to shop, like I do, you can turn that act into a selfless one. According to the Fashion Bomb, these stores are giving some or most of their proceeds to Haiti.

You can also go to to www.yele.org, www.redcross.org, www.hopeforhaiti.com, www.transformhaiti.org, to donate a financial contribution.

If you are always on your cell phone: Text YELE to 501501 to donate $5 via your cell phone or Text “HAITI” to “90999″ to make a $10 donation to the American Red Cross. Also, call this toll free number, 1-888-407-4747, to find information via the State Department regarding your family members in Haiti. You can also go to cnn.com to upload a picture with their name and age directly on the site to locate missing friends/relatives.

Remember this is not a political thing, its a human thing.

I’m so glad to hear that your aunt and cousin are safe, but am terribly sorry to hear about the loved ones of your friends. One of my close friends and groomsmen has a lot of family in Haiti, and just found out that a couple of his relatives were pulled from rubble yesterday and are fortunately doing all right. But there are so many he can’t reach. I’ll keep your friends and family in my thoughts.
