Just a few thoughts from a simple girl as I try to plan a wedding amidst the craziness of my life...

About Me

My photo
I am 25 year old getting ready for our nuptials on May 01, 2010. I am currently a graduate student majoring in Occupational Therapy. I love to write and I love weddings (well I used to). I thought it would be a great way to blend a few of my loves into a blog. Sit back and enjoy while I attempt to juggle planning a wedding on a budget while doing schoolwork. So let the madness begin!!

Bridesmaid Dresses? Maybe...

New layout, the other was too boring. I'm not in love with this one but it'll do until my fiance builds me a better one. Anywho, I'm really excited that I got new followers. For a while I thought I was rambling to myself and I was fine with that; but now the pressure is on for me to add some insightful and interesting posts.

I was on Jcrew.com and found some dresses that I liked. I don't want the bridesmaids to be too fancy and I like a simple look. Of course, I'm not picking out the dressing, I'm simply picking a designer and color. I like JCrew because some of the prices are reasonable; which I can relate to because I remember paying for my bridesmaids dresses that still hang in my closet. AND ( I know every bride says this, but its true) the girls can wear them again. Here are the ones that I like. I might pull a Bridezilla and tell them they have to pick. I'm still waiting for their responses.

I also love Jim Hjelm. Those are more on the expensive side but so pretty. All of the girls like the one I chose a while ago (the tan one with the bow on the side).

Meeting the Parents

So...I took my hubby home for the second time and this was the first time as an engaged couple. My parents LO-OVe him! My dad gave him this huge hug when he saw him. It was sooo cute! It is a load of my shoulders that they love him almost as much as I do. FI and my dad just sat at the kitchen table eating bouillon and talking for a long time. I was talking on the phone, harassing my sister, and watching some television. It went well I thought. My mom even blew him a kiss goodbye when we left. So i'm excited to bring him back again, plus he has to meet the rest of the family.

We hung out with one of my bests and it was her first time meeting him also. We grabbed some drinks and appetizers at Fridays. FI could not persuade her to get a "drink". Big surprise there. LOl. But it was great and she said she liked him.

Our one year anniversary is coming up and I am super excited about it. It comes in a bad month though, my birthday and christmas...so we'll celebrate all three, i'm not picky. I'm still looking for a dress though...lol...I did find the cutest boots!!...ok i'm getting sidetracked. I'm so glad the semester is over, I dont even know what to do with myself. I just joined the gym and we have been there literally everyday.

Since I am done with school, its back to wedding planning full time. Time to start calling the reception sites and making appointments! AHHH..

Oh and on a different note, I decided to whittle my bridesmaids to just three. Simple and minimal. Just my bests and my sister. I like that and I dont feel guilty about it. Still looking for the perfect dress though I may have found the perfect designer and just have everyone pick their own dress from there. Have to visit the store and see what they look like in person though. So much to do...Considering a wedding planner but I don't really want to hire someone to do everything for me when I am capable of doing it myself. Plus I have people to help.

Alright back to work. Until next time.

Friends and Family

I am here at work reflecting on stuff instead of getting my schoolwork done. I was thinking about my last entry and how I wanted to elaborate more on my bridesmaid/family situation. I think sometimes I make things too complicated. My fiance tells me that all the time. A simple answer never satisfies me. Out of everything that I have said, this answer is from the heart and it rings true. Simple as that. I chose the five girls to walk in my wedding because I wanted to be surrounded by people whose characters I am comfortable and familiar with and who truly know me. I have a history with these girls and we have been through life together in some shape or form. These are the people who will have to take me to the bathroom and help me lift my dress up! lol...You know the saying, friends are family that you picked yourself. I think I am finally over the guilt of choosing and not choosing. The people I chose are a natural choice because they don't just know me as cousin or etc, they know everything about me.

Exciting new for me at least. I found a few venues that allow outside caterers. Now all I have to do is call them. I'm done stressing over this wedding. Seriously.
