It has been a while since I've been on this thing so lets catch up real quick. I went to my parents house for Christmas and my parents finally began to hound me about the wedding. The messed up thing was that my dad waited until my FI was in his room asleep before he tried to rip me a new one. Lol. I was so upset. He shot down all of my ideas and he completely rejected my desire to have the wedding in Philly. It is so easy for my dad to upset me, it makes me so freaking mad. I should have woken FI up but I wasn't thinking. Basically I cried like a baby and made a fool of myself. I really should have a thicker skin by now especially since this was only the first conversation regarding the wedding, just wait until we have to start putting money down for vendors. Lovely thought. Whatever man, I'm going to city hall.
I left home angry and my mother in law talked to me about the whole situation along with her son. We are def having the wedding in Ny but that is all they get. No compromise on anything else. I have started looking for venues but no bites as of yet.
My birthday weekend was spectacular. We stayed near the mall and I got to do a little shopping, which was long over due. lol. We had dinner at Bahama Breeze which was amazing like I remembered. It was just dinner with my sis and bro in law and our married couple friends. Did I mention that I looked amazing, except I do not have any full length pictures, I was tipsy most of the day...lol... I feel like such a grown up hanging out with couples these days. It was a very low key birthday and I enjoyed myself immensely. Thats the g-rated version by the way...Just kidding!!! I was able to ring in the New Year with new family and friends, as well as my hubby. It was not exactly like I imagined, we had a lovers spat, but it was much needed.
FI always tells me that fights make us stronger, but I have a hard time accepting that until now. That fight was needed because it made us both realize things about each other. I'm not glad we had the fight, but the end results were in our favor.
Other that that, I have my first bridal fitting this week and I am excited. I have been working out so hopefully I haven't put on any pounds. And school starts this week which sucks. But its my last semester in school before I start my clinicals.
I never really make New Years Resolutions because I always break them. But for this year, I decided to make a few that were more realistic. We have been regularly hitting up the gym so my goal is to continue with that. It will get harder due to my change in schedule but I just have to be more diligent with my time management; which is easier said than done. I am focusing more on my hair also. After the perm fiasco; in which I proceeded to give myself my own perm and some of my hair promptly fell out, I vow to take better care of my delicate follicles. This includes tying up my hair when I am at the gym and waking up earlier to look cute. I have been enjoying the fruits of cooking and I am becoming quite good at it, if I may toot my own horn, haha. I can make a few African dishes, now its time to focus on the meals I've eaten since I was a child. I guess that its for my resolutions, can't think of anything else. OH shoot, the most important one, attend church more regularly. I have been very lazy about that and now that I have a vehicle at my disposal, there are no excuses. God has been so good to me, the least I can do is get my butt up for church.
Life is good these days. I am appreciative of my family and friends. Love you guys. OH and to the special man in my life, you know the deal. Happy belated birthday Lips my deelishious one.

Christmas Eve/Wedding Dress Shopping
Soo...christmas eve is different this year. I am home with my FI and its so weird to have him here and feel so nonchalant about it. My parents love him and I Love it. I just think back to all the years when I was afraid to talk to a guy on the phone or a few summers ago when my then boyfriend dropped me off quietly after a date so my parents wouldn't ask too many questions. Haha. I was such a kid then.
We don't do anything big on Christmas eve over here. We've just been hanging out and I went to my cousins for a bit. My parents are not big drinkers so we can't do that. I have this urge to pig out because there is a lovely assortment of cookies in the kitchen but I am still in fitness mode. No eating after eight. I have to get my body right for all the upcoming events in my life.
I went wedding dress shopping with my college friend and I had no idea what to expect. What are you supposed to wear? How long does it take? I made sure to shave everything, lol...and I Took my bridal book with me to refer to particular designs. One thing I do suggest is not to wear too many layers. Wear comfortable clothes that will come on and come off easily. This is not the time for complicated buttons and whatnot, lol. Funny, as soon as I got there, all my good intentions went out the window. The consultant threw me off when she asked me what my budget was. My FI and I never really put a specific number so I had to text him real quick. He told me $2000 but that still put a few dresses out of my range. I guess that was smart because it would suck if I tried on a $4000 dress and could not afford it. Haha.
I knew the consultant was going to help me with my dresses but I was damn near naked. I was literally covering myself with my hands. But she was amazing! She really boosted my confidence when she kept telling me I had a great figure. Wedding dress shopping is so much fun, well for my anyway. I didn't know wedding dresses ran small. She told me a size ten would fit me and I was like what? lol...
I brought my own strapless bra, but she gave me one to wear that went over the ab area, but it was too bulky under my dresses, so I went without. MY boobies held up pretty well, I thought...hahaha
One dress looked great though I would have to do extra work in the ab area. But it was too low cut in the cleavage and not wedding day enough for me. It was more like a hot formal date in the city with my FI appropiate. The second one was some corset thing and it refused to zip up. I did not like it anyway. The third was gorgeous. It made my waistline look amazing! The back was gorgeous. The last one was similar to the ones I bookmarked on the knot. It had a shirred waist and a very different looking train. It was strapless and looked great on me. It was exactly my budget, but it didn't make me feel the way the third one did.
I've read enough wedding blogs to know that many brides say they feel someway when they find their dress. Lightning did not hit me or anything but I literally could picture myself wearing the dress on my big day, no joke. It felt right, it was so subtle, I almost missed it. lol.
It was so weird trying on dresses b/c the consultant had me wearing heels and a veil and it felt surreal to see myself as a bride. I've dreamed of this day but never thought it would come anytime.
My favorite part was standing on the platform in the window, because pedestrians could see me. I looked good in some of those dresses, chile. Lol...
My consultant was the best. I cannot stop singing her praises. She gave me a purple ring box as a gift for my ring.
