Soo...christmas eve is different this year. I am home with my FI and its so weird to have him here and feel so nonchalant about it. My parents love him and I Love it. I just think back to all the years when I was afraid to talk to a guy on the phone or a few summers ago when my then boyfriend dropped me off quietly after a date so my parents wouldn't ask too many questions. Haha. I was such a kid then.
We don't do anything big on Christmas eve over here. We've just been hanging out and I went to my cousins for a bit. My parents are not big drinkers so we can't do that. I have this urge to pig out because there is a lovely assortment of cookies in the kitchen but I am still in fitness mode. No eating after eight. I have to get my body right for all the upcoming events in my life.
I went wedding dress shopping with my college friend and I had no idea what to expect. What are you supposed to wear? How long does it take? I made sure to shave everything, lol...and I Took my bridal book with me to refer to particular designs. One thing I do suggest is not to wear too many layers. Wear comfortable clothes that will come on and come off easily. This is not the time for complicated buttons and whatnot, lol. Funny, as soon as I got there, all my good intentions went out the window. The consultant threw me off when she asked me what my budget was. My FI and I never really put a specific number so I had to text him real quick. He told me $2000 but that still put a few dresses out of my range. I guess that was smart because it would suck if I tried on a $4000 dress and could not afford it. Haha.
I knew the consultant was going to help me with my dresses but I was damn near naked. I was literally covering myself with my hands. But she was amazing! She really boosted my confidence when she kept telling me I had a great figure. Wedding dress shopping is so much fun, well for my anyway. I didn't know wedding dresses ran small. She told me a size ten would fit me and I was like what? lol...
I brought my own strapless bra, but she gave me one to wear that went over the ab area, but it was too bulky under my dresses, so I went without. MY boobies held up pretty well, I thought...hahaha
One dress looked great though I would have to do extra work in the ab area. But it was too low cut in the cleavage and not wedding day enough for me. It was more like a hot formal date in the city with my FI appropiate. The second one was some corset thing and it refused to zip up. I did not like it anyway. The third was gorgeous. It made my waistline look amazing! The back was gorgeous. The last one was similar to the ones I bookmarked on the knot. It had a shirred waist and a very different looking train. It was strapless and looked great on me. It was exactly my budget, but it didn't make me feel the way the third one did.
I've read enough wedding blogs to know that many brides say they feel someway when they find their dress. Lightning did not hit me or anything but I literally could picture myself wearing the dress on my big day, no joke. It felt right, it was so subtle, I almost missed it. lol.
It was so weird trying on dresses b/c the consultant had me wearing heels and a veil and it felt surreal to see myself as a bride. I've dreamed of this day but never thought it would come anytime.
My favorite part was standing on the platform in the window, because pedestrians could see me. I looked good in some of those dresses, chile. Lol...
My consultant was the best. I cannot stop singing her praises. She gave me a purple ring box as a gift for my ring.

A Nice Surprise!!
FI had beeen hinting all week about taking me somewhere. He claims I mentioned it in a recent conversation on the way to work and have no recollection at all. In fact that entire car ride has been erased from my memory. That has been happening to me alot lately. Anyways today we embarked on this mystery trip and he kept spitting out all these potential ideas but none were true. We finally get downtown and the psycho takes me to a bridal boutique. I was surprised because I did not see that coming at all. I mean, I talk about the wedding constantly, it comes to me as naturally as breathing these days. So we go in and I'm thinking isnt the husband not supposed to be at the wedding dress fitting? But I dont care. The type of relationship we have don't be surprised if he knows what my dress looks like prior to the big day. lol.
Either way, I plan on looking fantabulous and knock his socks off, so who care if he sees the dress? We made an appointment b/c you apparantly can't just walk in. We never go downtown together in any case so it was nice to be around citified folk.
As you may or may not know, my birthday is coming up in approximately two weeks. I saw Bebe and immediately had to go in. I was not sure how receptive FI would be to this, but he has his computer book and was in an agreeable mood. I have been scouring their website for about two weeks now, and so I recognized all the dresses. I was just surprised that there were still some left.
First of all, Bebe is my new favorite store. It was a good try on day, I didn't hate my body. PLus it was so fun to have FI there to give me his honest opinion on the dresses. The first dress I tried on was the one we both liked a lot. Of course its black, actually all the dresses but one were. And I also got this hot shirt, so I'm so excited...I have not gone shopping in months, ok? MOnths! Ok so my sneaker purchase over the weekend does not count. lol.
The dress. I have been thinking about this dress for a ridiculously long amount of time. I am obsessed with my birthday. Every year, I want to have soo much fun. In high school, we started a tradition where we would take each other out and go to the movies. I love that, but now I dont go home as much. Last year I spent my birthday in NY sitting on the couch. I was supposed to go back to Philly and hang with school friends but my parents convinced me to stay home. I refuse to have that happen again. I got this cute black dress with short sleeves and a short flouncy skirt(to show off my legs). I was going for a look that is not so obviously me. I still stayed in the black family but these things take time.
All in all it was a great day. I have never gotten a new dress for my birthday, though I always want one. Already 25 is looking a lot better.
So I'm excited about trying on my wedding dresses on Monday. Its my first real forray into the engaged girl world. It will be nice to see what dresses look good and how much more work I have left to do in teh gym, lol. Plus I have been calling reception venues. I am in full wedding mode these days. I just wish it was tomorrow!!! I dont know how long I can wait...

One Year Anniversary!!
Today is our one year anniversary...its funny b/c we don't really know when we officially started dating so it was hard to know, so we finally decided on the first day we hung out b/c that was the beginning to our future...so corny!!...
As I look back, I had no idea all of this would come of our relationship. I was so used to having relationships start and end in my head with guys and thinking they were something real. I just assumed it would be the same with him even though I felt wayyy different about him. All I know is 2008 turned out to be very different year than I thought, much better. I just thought that I would be halfway done with school, not engaged!
Its weird b/c I plunged into this relationship head first with faith that I would land on my feet. I remember thinking that I'd rather give him everything in my heart then give a little bit. I had no idea what would happen, I just did it, with no trepidation. I did think that if things did not work out, I would be okay. I was a strange thing then, wasn't I? Where did I learn that? lol...
Neways happy anniversary to me and the FI!!! Peace and love...Peace and love...

Meeting the Parents
So...I took my hubby home for the second time and this was the first time as an engaged couple. My parents LO-OVe him! My dad gave him this huge hug when he saw him. It was sooo cute! It is a load of my shoulders that they love him almost as much as I do. FI and my dad just sat at the kitchen table eating bouillon and talking for a long time. I was talking on the phone, harassing my sister, and watching some television. It went well I thought. My mom even blew him a kiss goodbye when we left. So i'm excited to bring him back again, plus he has to meet the rest of the family.
We hung out with one of my bests and it was her first time meeting him also. We grabbed some drinks and appetizers at Fridays. FI could not persuade her to get a "drink". Big surprise there. LOl. But it was great and she said she liked him.
Our one year anniversary is coming up and I am super excited about it. It comes in a bad month though, my birthday and christmas...so we'll celebrate all three, i'm not picky. I'm still looking for a dress though...lol...I did find the cutest boots!!...ok i'm getting sidetracked. I'm so glad the semester is over, I dont even know what to do with myself. I just joined the gym and we have been there literally everyday.
Since I am done with school, its back to wedding planning full time. Time to start calling the reception sites and making appointments! AHHH..
Oh and on a different note, I decided to whittle my bridesmaids to just three. Simple and minimal. Just my bests and my sister. I like that and I dont feel guilty about it. Still looking for the perfect dress though I may have found the perfect designer and just have everyone pick their own dress from there. Have to visit the store and see what they look like in person though. So much to do...Considering a wedding planner but I don't really want to hire someone to do everything for me when I am capable of doing it myself. Plus I have people to help.
Alright back to work. Until next time.
