Just a few thoughts from a simple girl as I try to plan a wedding amidst the craziness of my life...

About Me

My photo
I am 25 year old getting ready for our nuptials on May 01, 2010. I am currently a graduate student majoring in Occupational Therapy. I love to write and I love weddings (well I used to). I thought it would be a great way to blend a few of my loves into a blog. Sit back and enjoy while I attempt to juggle planning a wedding on a budget while doing schoolwork. So let the madness begin!!

Flower centerpieces...

I've been searching for a florist in a lazy kind of way. I looked up some places on Theknot.com and asked my cousin, who just got married two weeks ago, who did hers. I don't really know much about flowers, all I know is they are pretty and I want lots of purple. The ceiling at my reception site is really high so I was thinking that I should have tall centerpieces. Here are a few that I found that I thought were cute and/or interesting:

I love the look of flowers floating in the water, it is so pretty to me. And the wine bottle with the personalized picture is a really nice touch. The last picture has the apples in the stem of the vase and that is really cute!

Low centerpieces: My roommate had a centerpiece similar to the first one with red roses. It was really economical as well, as she bought bushels from Costco/Sam's Club and we assembled them ourselves. They were so simple and so elegant. Unlike other weddings, I have been to, I still remember her centerpieces. I also love the last one, the white vase is such a stark contrast to the cream flowers and the greenery. You can tell I'm a flower novice, I have no idea what the greenery is...lol...
So many pretty flowers and choices! I must say, I have loved the floating flower set up since the first moment I laid eyes on it.
What kind of centerpieces are you envisioning for your big day?

The debate continues...Silk vs. Fresh Flowers...

I was watching another episode of My Fair Wedding with celebrity wedding planner David Tutera and silk flowers came up in the episode. Unfortunately the bride had the ugliest silk flower arrangement ever and of course David was like, silk flowers should never be seen EVER. It was the first time I have ever disagreed with him. It was like a little part of died that day. David said that you should have real flowers at your wedding. I agree fresh flowers are so pretty but why do they have to cost so much money? Its not as if the bride takes all the floral arrangements home with her. What do they do with all those lovely centerpieces? Throw them out? Oh no...oh no...Either I do a silk flower on the tables or do something else. I like the idea of fresh flowers somewhere, I just have to figure out where. But I have to admit, I am partial to roses. I love me some roses.

Blogger Galore!

I have not been blogging for a while because as usual things have been crazy with school and things have been pretty much at a standstill with the wedding. But I got a renewed vigor to blog thanks to one my dearest friends becoming a new follower and restarting her own blog, which I love and I'm not just saying that because I know her. Its very inspirational and always brings me back to earth.

So, whats new in my life. I am a blogger on another website now called PNN.com and I highly recommend it. You get to read all these posts from other people and there are tons of people to comment on your posts. Honestly, I like it better than facebook and its more stimulating than staring at people's pictures. My link is

in case you ever want to check it out. I'm supposed to be vying for a position there but its soo much fun that I just enjoy doing it. And this is a pretty calm week for me so I have the opportunity to blog a lot.

I found a few things that might work well for the wedding. This is a picture of some centerpieces. It takes the basic concept of flowers and makes them a little more unique.

I also found this amazing website where you can design your own place cards and etc before you purchase them or in my case, design so I know how to do it myself. I'm considering becoming a DIY kind of bride. I don't really feel comfortable just having other people do everything, I am semi creative and I would like to add some of my own touches at the wedding.
Its called After Your Party and its kinda cool. I also like that you can use this site for any event, not just weddings. So your next birthday party or whatever, you should check them out!

Ok i'm done plugging for these people. Check it out and let me know what you think.

I have actually been quite the busy bee in my absence. The question of my life right now is whether I should have a wedding planner or just go to an event design company. I found a really good wedding coordinator that I like and I found this event design company that does it all. They even do flowers! Doesn't that mean I should just cut out the middle man? I am leaning towards the event company but I would still need a Day of Coordinator. I don't want anyone stressing me out with table mishaps or people who weren't invited trying to get in, and I know those things will happen. Does anyone know of a good Day of Coordinator or does anyone willingly want to put themselves in such a position? Lol...
