Just a few thoughts from a simple girl as I try to plan a wedding amidst the craziness of my life...

About Me

My photo
I am 25 year old getting ready for our nuptials on May 01, 2010. I am currently a graduate student majoring in Occupational Therapy. I love to write and I love weddings (well I used to). I thought it would be a great way to blend a few of my loves into a blog. Sit back and enjoy while I attempt to juggle planning a wedding on a budget while doing schoolwork. So let the madness begin!!

Brief Interruption

I just wanted to share with you guys that as of yesterday, December 14th I was officially done with my clinical rotations. WhoHOOO!!!! I had the privilege of celebrating this milestone with some of my favorite people; my amazing fiance, my future bro and sis-in-law (who also has her own amazing blog, you should definitely check it out, La Mode. What shall I do with all this extra time, you ask? Hahaha, I respond. Most of my time will be spent studying for my licensure exam and wedding stuff. This will take crazy time management skills on my part, wish me luck. I am currently at a coffee shop because I will not have internet service for a few days. So I wanted to leave you guys with a post to tide you over until I return. Lol. Here are some things I picked up on my perusal of the web:

This picture looks like the place I am having my reception at and I think it looks very fresh and light.

This is the look of my groomsmen, I decided. I like how the purple ties bring out the purple color scheme. Now that I have a more concrete idea in my head, I can go shopping! Yay. (Photo courtesy of Jennifer Childress Photography). I love how the candles are the focal part of the table setting. I like to see looks other than flowers, which can be really expensive! (Photo taken from Theknot.com)

This picture was also taken from Theknot.com and I like how all her bridesmaids are wearing different style black dresses. I'm sure that made shopping so much easier for everyone. The bouquets really bring the uniformity in.

In my constant search for the perfect makeup look, here is my latest find on Selita Ebanks. Its pretty but I'm not sure if it has the "wow" factor I am looking for. Will the purple be too matchy with the rest of the wedding? What do you think?

I really like the open and airy feeling of this room. I can imagine it filled with people during the cocktail hour, standing around and engaging in witty conversation. I like how the fabric is draped around those pedestals. I would put those on either side of the main reception door with a nice arrangement of candles or flowers. Now where can I find those for cheap? A future bride's work is never done. Sigh. Until next time my pretties!

Stumbled upon this post, and I love the look you're going for for your wedding!
I love the candle centerpieces. Those are always a good low cost alternative to using flowers. Using different sizes of candles gives a great effect, and candlelight in the room is gorgeous!
For makeup I would definitely recommend having a trial run before your wedding. Heck, I had like 3, because I loved getting it done! :)
And the cocktail tables, your best bet is going to be renting them with the linens. That will be the cheapest option...and be sure to look around at different rental companies because some will charge differently!
Good luck!!!
